When to arrive to your session depends on what type of session you have scheduled! Check out my tips below to help the session start smoothly!
For newborn sessions, I usually do the photographs in your home, so this is a non-issue for you. For family and child portrait sessions, if you don’t have very far to go or if there aren’t any small children involved, then it’s best to come dressed. If you have a little travel time, it could be best to wait until they arrive to change into their portrait clothes. I also have young children and know that travel goes a lot easier with a drink and a snack. And yet, those same things can bring disaster to that perfect set of outfits you spent a long time carefully choosing for family portraits. Cheesy fingers and colored juices can strike at any time! Please let me know if you need a restroom for changing. Not all portrait locations have a restroom available so we will need to plan accordingly.
If you do prefer to wait and change into portrait clothes when you arrive, please get there early enough to to be ready to go at the time the session was scheduled. I can sometimes have a handful of sessions scheduled back-to-back which means I have a certain amount of time for each client, on average about an hour. Showing up just 15-20 minutes early to change into your portrait clothes will ensure that you have all of the time you need to have those priceless memories set into your family history!
For senior sessions, I suggest you arrive 15 mins before the scheduled time session. Once I arrive, I will help you decide what outfit to start our session with depending on our location. For engagement sessions, we will decide what outfit to begin with before the session.
